The shortest month of the year, February is flying by and that means it’s time to start planning March travel.
Whether planning a spring break getaway, celebrating Mardi Gras, St. Patrick’s Day or the invaluable impact and influence of women or catching the basketball madness in person, there is no shortage of exciting places to visit this March.
Here are the best destinations to explore in the month ahead.
Where to Travel for Women’s History Month
March is Women’s History Month and travelers can celebrate all month long in places like Little Rock, Arkansas, home to the ESSE Purse Museum & Store—one of only two purse museums in the world.
The museum uses fascinating exhibits and handbags to explore the evolution of American women throughout the 20th century. Visitors can tour the museum’s permanent “What’s Inside: A Century of Women and Handbags 1900-1999” exhibit and rotating showcases highlighting women’s diverse experiences, including their struggles and triumphs.

Visitors can tour the National Museum of Women in the Arts, explore captivating female-focused exhibits at the National Museum of African American History and Culture and Smithsonian American Art Museum or get tickets for an entertaining musical or play like Sarah Silverman’s The Bedwetter or The Age of Innocence inspired by Edith Wharton’s Pulitzer Prize-winning novel.
Where to Travel for St. Patrick’s Day
Travelers looking to don green and have a good time can’t go wrong in big cities with big Irish traditions like Boston and Chicago this St. Patrick’s Day. Visitors can look forward to lively parades, pub crawls and even dyed rivers in the case of the Windy City.
